Licensure renewal

Information for Dietitians Who Have Not Yet Renewed Ohio 2020-2022 Licenses

Renewal of 2020-2022 licenses for dietitians (and other professionals) was extended by Executive Order(s) through July 1, 2021 due to the Pandemic. Most dietitians have already renewed, however, there are still around 600 dietitians who have not.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU GET THIS DONE! Practicing on an expired license after July 1 is a violation of Ohio law.

When completing renewal applications, dietitians are asked if they have completed the required 1 hour in Jurisprudence (law) related continuing education. The requirement can be fulfilled by completing the module posted on the Medical Board website as in past years. The jurisprudence course for dietitians that is posted on the Medical Board website will be accepted as continuing education credit for dietitians renewing through 7/1/21.

Additionally, the Board is accepting continuing education from any CDR, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or Ohio Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics programs related to Ethics, laws, rules, regulations that you have completed during the 2018 - 2021 timeframe.

Don’t forget to keep a copy of the certificate of program completion in your personal files in case the Medical Board audits your continuing education record after renewal closes.

An easy place to find Ethics CPEs is Dietitian Hub …. They have a list of 5 or 6 FREE courses from various providers.

Dietitian 360 has a free course “Dietetic Code of Ethics: Do It Right” which is also FREE.

Becky Dorner & Associates, Wolfe Rinke Associates, Skelly Skills, DietitianCentral.com, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics have programs on Ethics, and other regulation related matters that would meet the requirement.

Use CDR’s CPE database search tool and learning need codes 1050, 7100, 7110 or performance indicators 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 to identify programs that also meet the requirement.
